In this review of HostGator, we cover a lot of the similar points that ‘Gator customer service reps mention, as well as others. Let us begin w/ the negative points:

No Integrated Domain Registrar

It’s frustrating to understand that you can’t buy a domain at HostGator, and have it flawlessly integrated in your HostGator DNS. As an alternative, I do what numerous online Marketers do: buy the domain at “GoDaddy”, and send the name over to HostGator. Strike one against HostGator.

Poor Help Topics

No company likes their consumers calling them for each little question. But since HostGator has a poor, spotty collection of Help videos and texts, consumers are forced to call customer service. HostGator should understand that people would happily ask Help topics–but only if it’s truly helpful.

Barebones cPanel – Not Great for Starters

cPanel is a service which HostGator and other webhosts utilize to manage their services. So, this is a censure of cPanel than HostGator. But the point stays: cPanel isn’t easy for “hosting beginners”.

Now, on the positive side:

Almost Zero Down-time

In three years, I’ve experienced zero down-time. I’m aware that other consumers have experienced occasional down-time, so I’ve qualified my statement as almost zero down-time.

Cheap Prices

I’ve been paying the similar amount for my hosting service for the past three years–no price increases. And this cheap amount gives me more services than I have ever take advantage of.
